From the field to a clean dataset
We build Survey123 forms that hold every crew to the same data standard as the data is captured, with pick lists, required fields, photos and GPS, so what comes back is consistent and ready for analysis rather than a pile of mismatched notes. Then we support the crews until the routine is second nature.
A program we run at scale
Big Island Tree Service holds the vegetation work on Hawaiian Electric's lines across Hawaiʻi Island, and its crews have used our forms since December 2023. Every day we review where each tree was logged, the work type and the circuit it was assigned to, and we support up to 11 crews on 11 iPads. The data drives live dashboards, charts and automated monthly reports for the utility, and after Hurricane Lala in August 2026 we pulled 958 before and after photos from the crews' storm records. The same approach fits tree inventories, asset inspections and land monitoring.

What is Survey123 and why use it?
It is Esri’s field data app. A form built in it checks each entry as it is made, with dropdowns, required answers, photos and GPS, so every crew returns the same kind of record.
Can you train our crews?
Yes. We build the forms and support the people using them until the routine sticks. One island wide tree crew program runs on 11 iPads, with our support covering up to 11 crews.
Where does the collected data go?
Into clean, structured datasets that feed live dashboards, charts and scheduled reports. For the tree crew program, the monthly report builds itself from the forms on the first of each month.
Do the forms work without a cell signal?
Yes. The Survey123 field app works without a connection: a finished record waits in the outbox on the tablet, and the crew sends it once the device is back in coverage. That matters on rural lines, where a signal is not a given.
